About Me
Hey, I’m Simon Mair — a backend developer based in Austria. I mostly work with Java and Spring Boot, building APIs, services, and systems that run on AWS or Azure (depends on the customer).
At home I shift gears and become a full-stack dev. I write Angular frontends, sometimes even make them look okay, and tie everything together into a working product. I like building things end-to-end, even if my UI design sense is a bit... questionable.
My day-to-day includes working with:
- Spring Boot, Java, and Python backends
- Angular frontends with FullCalendar and Cypress tests
- AWS (CDK, EC2, S3, Amplify, CloudFront, Route 53, and more)
- Azure SQL, Firestore, and custom integrations like Jira
- Infrastructure automation with CDK, GitLab CI, and PowerShell
This blog is built with Astro — lightweight, fast, and perfect for just writing. I’ll use it to share things I’ve learned, weird edge cases I’ve hit, and maybe the occasional rant about cloud weirdness.
Thanks for stopping by!
