My First Post

About Me

Since this is the first post I’m publishing here, I guess a quick intro makes sense.

I’m Simon, a backend developer based in Austria. Most of my time at work is spent building robust Spring Boot services, often deployed on AWS or Azure — depending on what the project or client demands. I’m comfortable diving deep into CDK stacks, integrating third-party APIs like Jira, or fine-tuning cloud architecture to make everything run smoothly.

But when I’m off the clock, I tend to shift gears into full-stack mode. I tinker with Angular, spin up quick UIs, and try to make things look half-decent — even though I’ll be the first to admit: design isn’t exactly my strong suit.

What Awaits You Here?

This blog is where I’ll share my learnings, hacks, and misadventures from building real-world software. Expect posts on:

  • Backend development with Java, Spring Boot, and Django
  • Hosting strategies using AWS services like EC2, S3 + CloudFront, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, and more
  • How to build and structure Angular apps for the long haul
  • Automating the boring stuff (PowerShell, CI/CD, CDK tips)
  • Lessons from integrating tools like WireGuard, Firestore, Bedrock, or FullCalendar
  • And occasionally, a take on how to not design a frontend

Basically: if you’re into practical tech stuff, whether backend-heavy or full-stack-ish — you’ll probably find something useful here.

Thanks for stopping by. See you in the next post!
